Acertara’s CEO co-Author on Published Seminal Paper Concerning Repaired Ultrasound Probes

LONGMONT, CO Feb 13, 2018.  Acertara Labs is pleased to announce that Acertara’s CEO, G. Wayne Moore, along with co-Authors James Zagzebski, Ph.D (University of Wisconsin, Dept. of Medical Physics) and Timothy Bigelow, Ph.D (Iowa State University, Dept of Electrical and Computer Engineering) have published a paper entitled; “Ensuring Clinical Efficacy and Patient Safety with Repaired Ultrasound Probes” in the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine – the official publication of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). Additionally, the authors will present the findings of this paper as invited faculty at the AIUM Annual Meeting in New York City, March 24th – 28th.  This paper addresses some of the concerns raised during the FDA’s 3rd party service docket related to probe repair activity and suggests three scientifically and regulatory based recommendations for hospitals and clinics to consider when selecting a probe repair entity other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Speaking about the paper Mr. Moore said, “This paper represents the work of over a year of research, testing, and evaluation of repaired probes in the United States. The results of this effort objectively demonstrate the need for caution when selecting non-OEM repair entities. Both patient and user safety may potentially be compromised, as well as the efficacy of the ultrasound examination itself.” The paper is published and is now available at the AIUM website; www.aium.org.
